What is teeth whitening?
The procedure is done with the use of a safe, organic gel as well as an electroluminescent lamp. The whitening gel is applied onto the teeth and activated by the lamp. This is repeated 3 times for 15 minutes during one session.
Who shouldn’t undergo teeth whitening?
All mentioned below should not undergo teeth whitening procedures:
- Pregnant women or women who are breast feeding
- People with severe enamel damage
- People with parodontosis, accompanied by gingivitis or with bad gum condition
- People with braces (the procedure can be done 6 after the braces were taken off)
- People who had recently undergone a dental surgical procedure
- People with very sensitive teeth
- Anyone under the age of 14
Who can undergo teeth whitening?
Practically anyone can undergo this procedure. There are cases though, when it does not give the expected effect. If hypopigmentation is the result of using tetracycline (an antibiotic) or if there has been any kind of artificial dental interference in natural teeth, then there is a possibility that the effect will not be as spectacular. Artificial materials are less susceptible to whitening but still lighten during the treatment.
Are there visible whitening effects on crowns, dental lacquer and other artificial dental materials?
Bleaching is not as effective on crowns, dental lacquers and heterogeneous fillings.
Are there any side effects?
The side effects that may occur after teeth whitening are temporary sensitiveness of teeth or temporary gum irritation.
Is teeth whitening safe?
Yes. Scientific research, carried out over many years show, that bleaching is safe and effective.
How long will my teeth stay white?
This depends on the individual habits and the porosity of teeth. The desired effect usually lasts from 6 months to 2 years. The procedure can be repeated two months after the first treatment.
